Since 2003, JMK Life Films has functioned as a full-service production company specializing in the most creative and entertaining videos. Our projects vary widely, from corporate to personal, shorts to feature-length, fictional to documentary. Our goal is to combine the best in storytelling with the latest in technology to give you an unforgettable product. Over the years, our specialty has become making the most unique personal documentary movies, or Life Films. Using pictures, home videos, interviews, animation, special effects, and re-enactments, we produce your own personal movie that will rival any documentary film on the market.
Jason Kachel grew up in West Palm Beach, Florida. In 1997, he received his BA in psychology from Brown University. While at Brown, he wrote, photographed, and edited their official admissions and recruitment video. In 2002, he graduated from USC’s School of Cinema-Television with a Masters in Fine Arts. While at USC, he won first place for the Mary Pickford Scholarship, awarded for excellence in picture editing. His current projects vary from event videos, to short films, documentaries, and feature films. Since 2003, he has made over 200 unique videos.
Jacqueline Stansbury is a Southern California native with a BA in Film and the Photographic arts from the Polytechnic of Central London and an M.F.A. from the American Film Institute where she specialized in producing. As Director of Development at Sanford/Pillsbury Productions during the company’s tenure at Twentieth Century Fox, she developed and packaged feature films; and also served as Associate Producer on several made-for- television movies. She has also worked in management, representing actors at Edith Rea Management.
Sergei Kabakov, born and raised in Russia, began his production career in 2009 in Chelyabinsk, where he was hired to start a new TV channel. In 2011 he was awarded “Best Cameraman” at the 13th Annual Mass Media Festival. In 2013, Sergei earned Russia’s prestigious TEFI Award for Best Sports Show on Russian TV. Upon moving to the United States, Sergei quickly found success on Metal Meltdown, a documentary concert series about Rock Music which reached Billboard’s Top 3 Music Video Bestsellers in the U.S.A.
Dara Sussman is a comedy writer and performer originally from New Hampshire. Dara studied acting and screenwriting at Emerson College and improv at Second City Chicago and Upright Citizens Brigade. Since moving to Los Angeles, Dara has been writing, producing and starring in YouTube sketches which have been featured on websites such as Buzzfeed, Hufﬁngton Post, The Hollywood Reporter, The AV Club, Cosmopolitan, and time.com. In addition to screenwriting, Dara has experience in blogging, travel writing, and worked as a copy editor for the Bentonville Film Festival.
Steve Roth grew up in Topanga, CA where he found his passion for ﬁlmmaking at a very early age. In 2005 he graduated from the Academy of Art University in San Francisco with a BFA in Cinematography, and in 2011 he co-founded a full service production company called The Other House. Through his professional career Steve has shot, written, directed, edited, and produced numerous commercial campaigns, short ﬁlms, music videos, web series’ and skateboarding videos, and has worked with major brands and networks including NBC, Revolt TV, CNNmoney, Redbull, and Fox Head inc.
David Olson received his BA in creative writing from Tulane University in New Orleans and spent several years studying comedy writing at The Second City and iO theaters in Chicago. He earned an MFA in Screenwriting from DePaul University before moving to Los Angeles to work as a script analyst for various production companies. He has received multiple nominations and awards for his screenwriting, and his first children’s book is being published in the fall of 2017.
Maxwell is a working filmmaker based in Los Angeles who has written and directed several narrative and documentary films. In 2016, he formed his production company, MM Studios, and in 2017, he co-founded the Independent Cinema Showcase as a platform for screening local works by up and coming artists. When not creating his own content, Maxwell can be found on set working as a Production Assistant, Prop Master, Production Designer and Special Effects coordinator.
